"Sandy is a sleep-deprived Brawler with powerful control over sand: casting sharp pebbles at enemies, and summoning a sandstorm to hide teammates."
Sandy Portrait.png

Sandy is a Legendary Brawler with above-average health, a fast movement speed, and immense utility with his Super, but a below-average damage output. He attacks by throwing piercing sand. His Super summons a sandstorm that makes him and his allies invisible while inside it. His first Gadget, Sleep Stimulator, makes Sandy fall asleep momentarily to restore any missing health. His second Gadget, Sweet Dreams, allows his next attack to make enemies fall asleep briefly, but wake up from any damage taken. His first Star Power, Rude Sands, allows his Super to deal minor damage to enemies over time while they’re inside the sandstorm. His second Star Power, Healing Winds, allows his Super to slightly heal him and his allies over time while inside the sandstorm.

Attack: Pebble Blast

"Sandy pelts enemies with sharp, piercing pebbles. Ouch!"

Sandy attacks by throwing sand at his enemies that spreads in a wide cone formation and pierces multiple enemies, dealing rather low damage. The attack consists of 3 groups of sand thrown simultaneously, and the group of sand to the left relative to Sandy has the fastest projectile speed. From left to right, each group of sand decelerates in speed. Only one group of sand can deal damage to an enemy.

Super: Sandstorm

"Sandy summons a sandstorm that lasts for 9 seconds and hides friendly Brawlers inside it."

Sandy throws a star-shaped object and creates a sandstorm in a large radius that lasts for 9 seconds and makes him and his allies invisible while inside it. Like Leon's Super, invisible Brawlers are visible to nearby enemies within 4 tiles. Spawnables such as Nita's Bear and Jessie's turret won’t be concealed.

Brawlers carrying the Ball in Brawl Ball or a trophy in Trophy Thieves are still visible. Invisible Brawlers are still visible to the Siege Bot and the IKE turret in Siege. Robots in certain events and Modifiers such as Robo Rumble, Boss Fight, and the Angry Robo Modifier are still able to see players through the sandstorm.

Gadgets

Sleep Stimulator

"Sandy falls asleep for 2.0 seconds and his health is fully restored."

Sandy's Gadget immobilizes him for 2 seconds, but afterwards his health is fully restored. This Gadget can’t be activated if Sandy is already at full health. Sandy can still take damage and be defeated while the Gadget is active. The Gadget can be interrupted by knockbacks, pulls, and stuns. If Sandy is the Big Brawler in Big Game, he only heals 10% of his maximum health. Sleep Stimulator is affected by healing debuffs such as Crow's poison and Byron's Malaise Star Power.

Sweet Dreams

"Sandy's next attack lulls opponents to sleep for 1.5 seconds. They will however wake up from any damage."

When Sandy activates this Gadget, his next attack stuns enemies for 1.5 seconds. However, if they’re damaged by any source in the stun duration, the stun is cancelled. A Gadget symbol will glow above Sandy's head signaling this Gadget's usage, as well as a glowing attack joystick. This Gadget's cooldown starts after this attack is shot.

Star Powers

Rude Sands

"Sandstorm now also damages enemies for 100 damage per second."

Sandy's sandstorm now deals 100 damage per second to enemies inside the sandstorm, for a total of up to 900 damage over 9 seconds. This effect can stack with other sandstorms should Sandy charge another Super before the first one ends.

Healing Winds

"Sandstorm now also heals friendly Brawlers for 300 health per second."

Sandy’s sandstorm now heals Sandy and his allies for 300 health per second, for a total of up to 2700 health over 9 seconds. This effect can stack with other sandstorms should Sandy charge another Super before the first one ends.

Tips

  • When using Sandy's Super, you should place the sandstorm so that it touches the edges of bushes. This allows you and your teammates to use the sandstorm to head into bushes and access larger areas while the enemies believe you and your allies are still inside the sandstorm. Once the sandstorm disappears, the enemies will be confused and you and your allies can possibly ambush them.
  • Sandy's wide and piercing attack makes it very effective against grouped-up enemies. Use this to your advantage to charge your Super faster.
  • You can use Sandy’s sandstorm to hide low-health and retreating teammates or yourself when you’re low on health and retreating or to hide from enemies to flank them and ally close-ranged Brawlers to ambush enemies scouting the sandstorm. Sandy's Super is very effective in 3v3 modes, because teammates can be positioned stationary while in the vicinity of his Super. His Super allows him and his allies to reach the event objective, whether it’s collecting Bolts in Siege, collecting Gems in Gem Grab, capturing a zone in Hot Zone, hiding from Hunters as the Boss or sneaking up on the Boss as the Hunters in Big Game, and damaging the safe in Heist.
  • Sandy's is useful in Heist and Siege because of his Super, but Sandy isn’t too viable in Heist due to his low damage output. Sandy’s Star Powers can be used on offense or defense in these events. You can either use Rude Sands to damage the safe/IKE along with you and your allies attacking, or you can use Healing Winds to heal your teammates while attacking because enemies will be attempting to stop you from attacking, and healing is especially useful in Siege because the IKE turret will continuously attack your team. In addition, in Siege, due to Sandy’s above-average movement speed and health, he’s ideal for obtaining Bolts. You can also use Bolts as bait for close-ranged Brawlers who can stand in his sandstorm near a Bolt, in which they’re invisible, and defeat an enemy who attempts to retrieve the Bolt.
  • In Brawl Ball, you can use Sandy's Super to cover the Ball’s vicinity. Use the Ball as bait and if an enemy attempts to retrieve it, a close-ranged Brawler such as Bull could defeat them. After they are defeated, use the time to allow a fast Brawler or self-passer such as Leon, Stu, Edgar, Colt with Slick Boots, or Crow to kick the Ball to the goal. In addition, Sandy has above-average movement speed, therefore making Sandy an ideal Ball carrier.
  • Sandy's Rude Sands Star Power can be used for area control, and while the damage over time is minor, the large radius and long duration prevents healing and can slowly drain the enemies' health if they enter the sandstorm and the area it’s placed on, allowing you and your teammates to possibly defeat them or force the enemy to stay far from the area, which is very effective for area control-based events such as Gem Grab and Hot Zone. Sandy's Rude Sands Star Power also counters other Sandy's Supers. If you throw your Super onto their Super, the damage ticks make enemies visible, similar to Crow's poison. This makes it much easier for your team to fight against the opposing Sandy. Sandy's Rude Sands Star Power can also be used in maps with an abundance of bushes such as Snake Prairie or NruhC nrevaC to detect bush-camping enemies.
  • Sandy’s Sleep Stimulator Gadget should be used behind obstacles, in bushes, or around corners to avoid being defeated by enemies since Sandy is vulnerable to damage in this state. Using the Gadget in a sandstorm is also very effective as long as there aren’t any enemies scouting the sandstorm.
  • Sandy’s Sweet Dreams Gadget is very versatile, especially in certain situations. For example, you can use it to quickly escape from an enemy, to push past goal defenders in Brawl Ball to score, to stun the enemies in the zone and get quick capturing, or to even save yourself if a Brawler with a moving ability such as Buzz or Edgar uses their ability to rush in and attempt to defeat you.
  • Sandy's attack consists of 3 groups of sand that travel at different speeds. The group of sand farthest left relative to Sandy travels the fastest, and each group heading right decelerates in its speed. As a result, aiming slightly left of the enemy can ensure you dealing maximum damage even at maximum range, because the group of sand can reach the enemy before they can escape. This is important to know when utilizing Sandy's wall peek, because you can often clip an enemy hiding behind another enemy by attacking slightly left.
